3. PROMOTE OUR NEW VENUE - Scottish Rite Auditorium



This summer our classic fairy tale musicals will be held at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, instead of at Rhode Island College this season. We have the opportunity to promote and sell our own tickets for these shows so please help us spread the word!! Post on facebook, myspace, twitter, wherever!

4. SUPPORTING OUR MEMBERS - Success For Life 101 Seminars



Marianne Douglas (Fairy Godmother in Cinderella and Cinderella’s Wedding this summer) is holding seminars at various locations for recent high school graduates this summer called Success for Life 101: A How-to Guide for Life After High School.



Marianne also plays the teacher/mother in and helped write the high school/middle school version of BULLY partly based on the multiple award winning anti-bullying leadership/success program Strategies for Success. She is a wonderfully positive influence on everyone with whom she comes in contact. Her passion and drive to support students is apparent in everything she does. Thank you Marianne!!

5. CONGRATULATIONS OLIVIA!



Congratulations to our very own Olivia Sczuroski for winning the Motif Award for Best Performance by a Youth for her performance as Young Thomas in our production of Pocahontas. Young actors from all over Rhode Island were nominated for this award. Other Kaleidoscope shows that were nominated were:

High School BULLY for Best New Work



We are very proud of her and all of our extremely talented performers we are lucky enough to have here at Kaleidoscope Theatre!

6. SCHOOL-TOURING SHOWS



Spring is winding to a close and summer approaches, but we still have a few performances touring local schools:



BULLY at Leo Savore Elementary on June 9 and Brown Ave on June 10.

GOLDILOCKS at Barnum Preschool on June 21 & 22.

BULLY at Smithfield YMCA July 13

Thinking ahead to the Fall:

We have educational shows, such as “B.U.L.L.Y.” (Better

Understanding by Listening and Learning about You), which

addresses the ever-present and often dangerous problem of

bullying amongst children, and “I’m Special – You’re Special”,

a show that deals with the inclusion of a young boy with Down

Syndrome into his brother’s and sister’s school.



Several of our smaller fairytale productions, such as “Little

Red Riding Hood” (suggested for K through 6) and “Goldilocks

& the Three Bears” (suggested for pre-K through 3) also tour to

schools!

7. CAMP RESERVATIONS



We are now accepting camp reservations for our summer 2011

performances at Scottish Rite Auditorium. Camp/YMCA groups of

25 people or more can benefit from our special group rate of

only $5 a ticket! For more information or to make a reservation,

Another Kaleidoscopian to Support - Santana sings with Patti Austin!

Support your fellow Kaleidoscopian!!

This weekend you can support Sarah Cohen as the Prout School, presents “Little Women”, the musical. Sarah is playing Aunt March, a comic character. This is afamily-friendly show. Tickets are very reasonable $12 for seniors and students and $15 general admission. Shows are Friday and Saturday April 29-30 at 7:30 and May 1 at 2:00.

Sarah will also be in the Coastline Show Chorus Memorial Day Show American A Cappella performance on Sunday, May 22 at 2:00pm. Special guests- The American Band. Tickets are $15, 20, 25 (in a special front section). This is Sarah’s last show as a member of the chorus before she heads off to college. She'd love to see you there!

Play the Music for Parkinsons!

The Second Annual “Play The Music For Parkinsons ” Fundraiser will be held at Bella Restaurant on Saturday, February 12. This is Emily’s project and last year, after an evening of dinner, dancing , live music and a cabaret she was proud to send $4500 to the National Parkinson Foundation. If anyone is interested, tickets are $40 per person. The band is one that Emily has been performing with in Boston. They are Berklee based and awesome!!! Hope to see you there. Boston Casting is holding an open call for boys, 8-11, for the upcoming feature film "Ted" starring Mark Wahlberg. Job will shoot in the Boston metro area in February. If you have already auditioned there is no need to come again.

January 13th - Snow Day Part 2

Shows at the Jamestown School will be rescheduled... BULLY rehearsal for tomorrow's shows is still on as scheduled!

January 12th - Snow Day

BULLY shows at McGuire Elementary and Highlander Charter have been postponed tomorrow (1/12) due to the incoming 17 inches of snow... we will be in touch about rescheduling.

As the winter progresses, a snow storm affecting one of our performances is an unfortunate possibility. If you ever have a question about whether a performance will be going ahead as scheduled during inclement weather, please either call or text Nicki and we'll also post updates on the blog, twitter, and our facebook page! :)
