Cinderella on the radio!!

Two songs from our production of Cinderella's Christmas will be on my uncle's radio station this weekend! To hear the songs, check out WNRI (1380AM) on Saturday at 4pm and Sunday at 6pm. The show should also be available online!

In Memory

Billy Frederickson's grandmother, Lillian Hood (91) passed away on Tuesday. Billy has played numerous characters for Kaleidoscope, including: Prince Neil in "Rapunzel", the Prince in "Cinderella", and the Beast in "Beauty & the Beast." His sister Missy (and his mom Betty) were also involved with the company. The Frederickson family has been part of the Kaleidoscope family for many years, and our thoughts are with them.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rte. 44) Greenville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, Danielson Pike, No. Scituate. Burial in Acotes Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 will be appreciated.

Remembering Larry

This past weekend, one of Kaleidoscope’s most cherished friends passed away after a long battle with cancer. Larry Gower, the husband of Debbie Gower (Evil Queen in Snow White and Dumdora in Rapunzel), was always willing to go the extra mile to help Kaleidoscope. He often toured with Debbie and would volunteer to help with the sets and props. He was an accomplished performer in his own right and he frequently accompanied Debbie on the piano. His beautiful playing and his beautiful smile will be sorely missed.

The wake will be held this Wednesday, October 22nd from 4:00-8:00pm at the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd Cumberland, RI. The funeral service will be held the following Thursday at 9:00am at St. John Vianney 3609 Diamond Hill Rd, Cumberland, RI.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Home and Hospice Care of RI, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860. For more information, click here.

Hello all,

This is Ryan here. For those of you who haven't met me I am Kaleidoscopes official/unofficial cameraman. It is a position official only by a caption on a MySpace picture and unofficial in all other respectable aspects. I have also played The Huntsman in both Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the folks at Kaleidoscope for letting me become an official contributor to this blog as well as the public one. I will be using this opportunity to do blogs from the perspective of a performer working at Kaleidoscope, which was an idea inspired by Nikki and Mia, two of our younger actors.

This blog will most likely be posted on the other Kaleidoscope blog for everyone to see. While this summer has now come to a close, I thought I would think back to the last two summers and tell some of those tales.

I hope you enjoy the upcoming entries. I also have two of my own blogs for others to visit if interested. One is a personal journal and the other is my journal on dramaturgy. Neither are updated as often as they should be.

Thanks for reading and thanks again to Kaleidoscope for this great opportunity. In the words of Garrison Keillor "be well, do good work, and keep in touch".

The plan is to keep going with the routine we started last week... don't worry if you missed it though, we'll all help new people catch up! After tap, we plan to walk over to the yummy Greek festival and get some food - everyone is welcome to join us! :)

Kaleidevent- Goodbye Jamie!

Jamie will be off to New York soon and to say our last goodbye, we will be holding a movie night with popcorn, fun and games! Kaleidoscope will supply the popcorn, feel free to bring something comfy to sit on and any games you'd like to play!

The event will be held September 10th at six o'clock. The movie will start at seven and is the modern-day fairytale titled Penelope about love and self-acceptance. Penelope Wilhern, born to wealthy socialites, is afflicted by a secret family curse that can only be broken when she is "loved by one of her own kind." Hidden away in her family's estate, the lonely girl is subjected to meeting a string of blue bloods through her parent's futile attempts to break the curse. Each suitor is enamored with Penelope (and her sizable dowry)...until the curse is revealed. Fed up with this the attempts to marry her off and determined to live life on her own terms, Penelope breaks free from her family, venturing into the world alone. She finds friendship, adventure, and becomes the person she was meant to be out on her own.

Come celebrate the end of the summer with all your favorite Kaleidoscope pals! We will be watching two movies (TBA, determined by popular vote) and playing numerous board games throughout the afternoon. The movies will be projected onto the rehearsal room wall; we suggest bringing pillows, sleeping bags, or something else comfortable to sit on! Kaleidevent on Saturday, June 7th!

High Frequency Theater Company will present its first production this June! High Frequency was started by Cameron Marcotte, Kaleidoscope's intern from the Met School and a frequent performer in our school-touring programs. Kaleidoscope would like to have a Kaleidevent in order to support Cameron in his endeavors. June 7th will be the date of the Kaleidevent. Other Kaleidoscopian's involved in the production include Mike Ferron (B.U.L.L.Y.), Audrey Thompson (B.U.L.L.Y.), Amber Johnson (B.U.L.L.Y.), and Kevin Broccoli (Knave of Hearts in Mother Goose). We will meet at 6:00 at the Kaleidoscope Office or you can meet us at the Met School's Black Box Theatre. We'll make sure to get there early in order to feast on Kaleidoscopian Sam Hood's gourmet concessions. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students (any person under the age of 18), but if we get enough people (about 15), we may be able to negotiate a "group package" with Cam. The show that the company is presenting is actually a series of short, one-act plays collectively titled "Technicolor Black Box Experience." The following plays will be presented:

Am I Blue – by Beth Henley

A chance meeting becomes more in this sweet romantic comedy set in 1960’s New Orleans.

Kick 'em When They're Down
A lesbian woman struggles with a conservative Christian nurse to let her see her partner, who is currently in labor with their child.

Foreplay, or the Art of the Fugue - by David Ives

Chuck, a would-be Don Juan, takes on three rounds of seduction with three different women on a miniature-golf course.

Naomi in the Living Room - by Christopher Durang

A son visits his unstable mother, Naomi, with his to normal fiance accompanying him. Naomi delights in forcing conversation from her will-be daughter-in-law, communicating with her multiple unseen husbands, and showing affection to her beloved couch.
