Thanks to funding from RISCA (the RI State Council on the Arts), Kaleidoscope Theatre members will have a fantastic opportunity to learn about the art of scenic painting! For the week of April vacation (April 14th-18th, 2008 from 10am-5pm - you may attend any or all of these days), Kaleidoscope will be partnering with Providence scenic artist Laura McPherson to produce a brand-new kitchen drop for Cinderella! This project is sure to be an awarding and educational experience for everyone involved. We will get a chance to learn about color mixing, math layout, style interpretaion, sampling techniques (including sponge, stencil, stamp, ragroll, spattering, etc.), usage of brushes and sprayers, and more! The work of art we create together will debut this summer, and be seen by audiences for years to come!
If would like to take advantage of this phenomenal opportunity, please give us a call or leave a comment so that we know who to expect! Be sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty (including your shoes and/or socks!), and bring an elastic, clips, bandana, or a hat to keep your hair out of your face (and out of a paint bucket!). Also, if you are allergic to latex, be sure to let Laura know when we get there.
We will most likely leave from Kaleidoscope at 9:30am, and return around 5:30-6:00ish. Bring a bagged lunch or money to order food. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
Hope to see you then!
